Miriane Portes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families. She is EMDR certified and has extensive experience treating PTSD and other trauma related disorders.

Miriane attended the University of Utah where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work. After graduation, Miriane held a position at Valley Mental Health in Utah where she provided substance abuse and mental health treatment for adolescents and their families. Later, she held a position as the Clinical Director of a proctor care agency. There she trained, certified and supervised dozens of families, teaching them how care for severely emotionally disturbed children and youth. She also provided therapy for the agency’s clients and their families, supervised a team of therapists and saw her own clients in her own private practice.

Miriane currently sees clients of all ages at Cary Counseling Center and she also teaches courses as an adjunct faculty member for Ashford University. She is fluent in English and Portuguese and understands Spanish. Her areas of expertise include, depression, anxiety, panic and phobias, adjustment disorders, attachment disorders, grief and loss, substance abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, dissociative disorders and relationship issues.
